Personal care at home

Personal support workers are trained to help with the everyday tasks that become harder with age, illness or disability, so the person you care about can stay comfortable and dignified at home.

What a PSW can help with

  • Bathing, showering and personal hygiene
  • Dressing and grooming
  • Toileting and continence care
  • Getting in and out of bed or a chair, and moving around the home
  • Help at mealtimes
  • Reminders to take medication as prescribed

Good to know

PSWs do not provide nursing care such as wound care, injections or managing medical equipment. If you need nursing, Ontario Health atHome can assess you for publicly funded services.
